About Us
Winchester Meals on Wheels, founded in 1971, is a privately funded, non-profit organization providing home-delivered meals to any Winchester, Massachusetts resident unable to shop for or prepare their own food. The nutritious meals are supplied by Winchester Hospital’s Catering Service under the direction of the staff dietitians who plan and supervise the meal preparation. Winchester Meals on Wheels is governed by a volunteer Board and administered by a salaried Coordinator, Mike Toomey.
Volunteer drivers, who deliver the meals, are an essential part of the program’s success. Check out our Volunteer Page to download New Driver and CORI forms to help out.

New Clients
Winchester Meals on Wheels serves a wide and diverse client base. Any Winchester Massachusetts resident in need of a healthy food delivery service is welcome to apply. There are no limitations based on age or income.
We offer services to clients who need temporary assistance following surgery or other life events, as well as longer term deliveries for those who need help meeting their dietary needs.
Meals are delivered between 10am-11:30am Monday-Friday. There is NO delivery on weekends, Holidays and school snow days. Clients may choose their own delivery days.
We are pleased to offer a range of dietary menus. Our Meals Coordinator works with the Hospital dietitian to accommodate certain medical recommendations.

FAQs
Who is Eligible?
Winchester residents, regardless of income, age, race, or religion, who have insufficient access to nutritional, healthy and well balanced meals.
What is provided?
A hot meal, along with milk, juice and dessert is delivered to the recipient’s home Monday through Friday, depending on the number of days a client chooses. There is no service on weekends, holidays, or Winchester Public School snow days.
Who delivers the meals?
Volunteers drive their own cars, pick up the meals at the Winchester Hospital and deliver them to our clients.
Are special dietary needs met?
The Meals Coordinator works with the hospital dietitian to accommodate certain medical and dietary restrictions (Gluten-free, Coumadin, etc). See the Client Intake form for specifics.
Who prepares the meals?
The Winchester Hospital Food Services Staff work under the direction of the Dietitian, who plans the meals.
What are the costs?
Daily
Hot meal and cold snack $5.00
Clients may choose any number of days per week:
Two days $10.00
Three days $15.00
Four days $20.00
Five days $25.00
How are the costs subsidized?
Winchester Meals on Wheels is a privately funded non-profit organization that receives no Federal or State subsidies. Costs are met through payments of clients and donations from individuals, churches and civic organizations.
